"My boyfriend Mike came home to find that his beloved dog passed away last Friday morning. It was completely unexpected, and obviously devastating. In the peak of his distress, at a loss for what to do, he called Uptown Animal Hospital and they compassionately instructed him on his next steps. When he arrived, the same kind woman who he spoke to on the phone was waiting for him with open arms, ready to help however she could. Every staff member there, from the front desk to behind the scenes, were so comforting, supportive, and empathetic, even sending him a sympathy card in the mail with all their signatures and well wishes the following week. While the whole neighborhood has been mourning the loss of Lefty, I know that there are levels of his grief that could not be matched by another. Every time Mike has had to retell the story of what happened that terrible morning, he always makes a point to talk about how wonderful the staff was at Uptown Animal Hospital was to him in a time of real crisis. Only 15% of animal hospitals in the United States and Canada are accredited by AAHA, which is recognized worldwide as the benchmark for quality care in veterinary medicine.
