I would recommend anyone in the neighborhood that is looking for a great animal hospital to provide care for their furry family members!Bruce W.Bruce W. ★★★★★ Sam the vet tech was super patient with my dog and very informative in preventative care.. I appreciate that in a vettim D.tim D. ★★★★★ We've been taking our cats to Uptown Animal Hospital since their initial one year check-up during COVID, and just this summer we were fortunate enough to have them be our vet while we were in the process of moving out of the country.Uptown Animal Hospital (especially Jenny) has been nothing but professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating during the stressful few months we had to get the cats paperwork in order and signed off by the USDA.They are a credit to the neighborhood and we are thankful to have had such a good vet be so near at such a crucial time. The cats paperwork was completed without fault, returned from the USDA on schedule, and the cats successfully traveled through two different countries without a single hiccup. We are sorry to be moving so far away from such a good vet.Best wishes,Andri KiddAndri K.Andri K. ★★★★★ The vets and staff here are great. They were gentle with my dog and answered all our questions. I’ve even had to call them in an emergency situation and they were right on top of it. Thanks uptown animal hospital! We’re so grateful to have a neighborhood vet that cares.Erica B.Erica B. ★★★★★ Took my 17 year old dilute tortie cat there for a limp. Everyone was very nice. My vet was friendly and extremely informative. Didn't rush me to make decisions and took their time explaining. Price was reasonable considering the quality of care my kitty received. Would recommend to anyone. My cat didn't want to go back in her carrier, she loved everyone.Amourena T.Amourena T. ★★★★★ My boyfriend Mike came home to find that his beloved dog passed away last Friday morning. It was completely unexpected, and obviously devastating. In the peak of his distress, at a loss for what to do, he called Uptown Animal Hospital and they compassionately instructed him on his next steps. When he arrived, the same kind woman who he spoke to on the phone was waiting for him with open arms, ready to help however she could. Every staff member there, from the front desk to behind the scenes, were so comforting, supportive, and empathetic, even sending him a sympathy card in the mail with all their signatures and well wishes the following week. While the whole neighborhood has been mourning the loss of Lefty, I know that there are levels of his grief that could not be matched by another. Every time Mike has had to retell the story of what happened that terrible morning, he always makes a point to talk about how wonderful the staff was at Uptown Animal Hospital was to him in a time of real crisis. We are forever grateful and encourage anyone to bring your business their way.Morgan C.Morgan C. ★★★★★ Love it clean, and very helpful staff.Zachery M.Zachery M. ★★★★★ Our rescue needed a check up and Uptown animal hospital was the perfect choice! Straight forward answers for those tough to answer questions. Highly recommend.Benjamin M.Benjamin M. ★★★★★ GreatDaniel R.Daniel R. ★★★★★ Great place. Dr. Miller has looked after our dog and 2 cats for a few years now. Definitely recommend.Ruben M.Ruben M. ★★★★★ Uptown Animal Hospital has an Uptown zip code but it has been in Andersonville for the 25 years I've used them, through two locations and two vets. They have seven doctors, seven veterinary technicians, four pharmacy technicians, and eleven other staff. Fees are at the upper end of our locally accepted fee range for their professional services, which is not unreasonable since they are worth it. Their referrals to outside specialists have all been to good specialists. Their physical plant is small and customer parking is a 15 minute curbside zone big enough for three cars. Traffic police are forgiving and I haven't been ticketed on the rest of the block or across the street (meter parking). They are a well liked business.David L.David L. ★★★★★ A fantastic local animal hospital that takes great care of your pet. I just got a dog for the first time and needed a vet quick. So glad I randomly stumbled upon them and chose local. They are called Upton Animal Hospital but are actually on Clark Street in Andersonville (Edgewater). One doc called my dogs fur “Liver Chestnut.” That alone made me laugh and I’d give a sixth star if I could!Andre P.Andre P. ★★★★☆ My cat was extremely troublesome the day of our appointment, but they gave her room to feel less anxious, while keeping everyone safe. Seemed a bit pricy to me, but truly excellent and compassionate care.elyse R.elyse R. ★★★★☆ Been going here over 10 years. Knowledgeable staff and kind.SteveSteve ★★★★☆ I took my dog Charlie to Uptown Animal Hospital for about 14 years. Overall, the vets provide good care and are kind and responsive. And I was fortunate to have a very healthy large dog that lived until 15. On two occasions when he was seriously ill, I do not believe the Uptown vets were diagnostically strong. When he was about 8 years old his coat changed dramatically and he started excessively shedding. I brought this to the attention of the vet and also did my own research online. Charlie's coat had never changed with the weather, but the vet told me it was probably weather related. My research online suggested that a considerable change in coat could be a sign of internal disease. I brought this to the vets attention. Two more years passed before Charlie became very ill and finally Uptown suggested an ultrasound. The test showed that he had Addison's disease. Once he was on drugs his coat came back to normal and his fur stopped shedding excessively. The second diagnostic issue was when Charlie was in his last year. He developed a dry cough. The vet appropriately ordered an xray and found no fluid in his lungs. I was also told that his ability to exercise seemed fine, so that it likely wasn't congestive heart failure. But that is where the testing stopped. It was never suggested that I get an ultrasound. And perhaps I am at fault for not pushing for it. Charlie ultimately passed from a tumor that ruptured and bled internally. Weeks before this occurred I had him at the vet with blood in his urine and the cough (which we could not recreate in front of the vet). I may be playing armchair QB, but in researching his cause of death I believe that he had a visceral vascular tumor (more likely than not, malignant) that had potentially grown from his heart. From my reading, it appears that such a tumor causes the same type of coughing that congestive heart failure does. And if he had multiple tumors (renal spread) it is possible that it was also causing the blood in the urine. At days end the result would have likely been the same. But I do think we had a chance to diagnose the issue with an ultrasound before the tumor finally ruptured, which may have given me more choices (or at least the opportunity to mentally prepare) at the end of his life. With all that said, I realize pets can't tell us how they feel and where they hurt which often makes diagnosis very difficult for vets.Harlan F.Harlan F.js_loader
